Confused about prague

Have been looking at apartments and wonder, which side of the charles bridge is best to stay at? Or does it matter? Thank you for any help you can give me. Pat

I recommend you stay on the end closest to the castle. However, either end is good, and the city is great. Good luck.

I don't think it matters. I stayed on the castle side on Nerudova and it was only a couple of minutes walk to the Charles Bridge.

Prague is a small compact city and if you are staying anywhere near the Charles Bridge (either side) you will find yourself very central. I walked everywhere and only got a tram once when I was there.

If you are choosing between apartments that are both close to the Bridge, I'd pick the one you like best.

I agree with Dave. I would actually prefer the Old Town side, not Mala Strana myself, but that really would depend on exactly where the apt. was. I don't find the Mala Strana side as convenient myself, especially if it's up the hill.

We were very pleased to have stayed on the same side as the Old Town, the Jewsih Quarter and Wenceslas Square. The opposite side from the Prague Castle.

Best wishes,

Rex

If you like night-life, shopping, etc, stay near Wenceslas Square or Old Town. There are more things that stay open late. If you want an "old - world" feel, with the winding streets & passages, stay in Mala Strana. Yes, Mala Strana has some hills, so if you have trouble walking, that is not the side for you. It is a very charming section, though, and you can walk through Petrin park, which is very beautiful.

Which apartment agencies are you looking at? Maybe some of us can help you with you decision, based on some of the places you are considering. (I have used travel.cz, athos.cz, pragueaccomodations.com, and bohemia plaza.)

thank you so much! I`ve looked at so many apartments that my head is spinning. We need something for 4 people, either one room or two. We certainly don`t want to stay at a hostel, but our budget is limited. Maybe $80 a night per room, for two rooms. Or maybe $160 for an apartment that can sleep 4. Any suggestions? I guess either side of the bridge is OK.

I've used this company before. Beautiful properties.
