confuse by types of room
 

I am trying to book room in hotel/hostel for paris but unsure about what these mean?

1 Bed Private Ensuite 63.28
Dbl Bed Private Ensuite 35.44
2 Bed Private Ensuite 35.44
3 Bed Private Ensuite 34.80
Prices are per person per night



I assume that all of the above are private rooms with different types of bed? I don't understand it because
what keeps one from just getting the 3 bed for two which would equal to only $70 versus the single bed say for two for $123 if a couple wanted to go cheap?

The dbl, 2 or 3 bed aren't shared with others are they?

And here's a naive question to go along with trueguy's great question: what exactly does "ensuite" mean? Private bath?

At least in England a few years ago, ensuite did mean you didn't have to go down the hall to the bathroom.

My understanding is that this means:

a single room with one bed and bathroom
a double room with double bed and bathroom
a double room with two beds and a bathroom
a triple room with three beds and a bathromm

I bet you're looking at an odd hotel booking site (maybe British?) as room prices in hotels in Paris aren't usually quoted per person, nor in USD. Once in a while they do that,so it appears cheaper but you don't really pay per person, you pay for the room. A double room will cost $70 regardless of whether one or two people are in it, and the triple room $112.

The ensuite thing is from UK, it means a private bathroom in the room itself, not the hallway.

However, if this is a hostel, you could indeed be sharing with other people if it's not a private room and then rates are per person. That's what a hostel is about, you may be in a group room with others you don't know.

"Ensuite" means with full bathroom (or at least shower) in the room.

Hotels usually price by the room, not per person, so I'm guessing that the rates you quote are from a hostel, no? It may be that sharing with strangers is the custom for that hostel.
A room for two would be the same price whether it has one double bed or two singles-- 70.88. If the two people each wanted a single room it would be 63.28 each, total $126. The 1-bed room is probably so small, and with a very narrow bed, that it would not be assigned to two people.

Why not ask the hostel? Email or fax in English if you don't know French; they'll find a way to answer in English.
