Confirmation of Scavi reservation
Can anyone tell me how long it takes to receive your final confirmation for the Scavi tour after you email your credit card info to reserve the tour? It's been several days, and of course I hope nothing has gone wrong. Thanks for the help.
I emailed my credit card info on April 3rd, and received emailed receipt on Apr 10th, for tour on May 30th.
I faxed credit card info on March 4 and received a confirmation on March 8.
I emailed my credit card info twice in February for reservations in May and I never received a final confirmation. My credit card has never been charged. I hope I have a spot reserved on the tour. I don't really know what to do at this point.
Barbara -- If I were you I would email them again. By now you should have received a receipt with a confirmation/reservation number.
BarbaraS: if you don't have a final confirmation printed out and in your hand, you won't get past the Swiss guards.
So are you suggesting I start the process all over again from the beginning, or just send the credit card info again? What about contacting my hotel in Rome and having them check on the status of the reservation and perhaps reserving it for me?
Email them as a Reply to their very last (probably only) email to you, and tell them you sent your CC info on xxx dates, and you never received a confirmation. Ask them how to proceed now.
They probably won't have you as confirmed, and you may have to start over, but let them advise you on that. |
It took a good week for me to receive the confirmation. I was beginning to think it wasn't coming. But it did.
I guess I should resend mine as well. I sent my credit card info on April 11 and haven't heard anything yet either.
I recently requested a tour through email, and heard back in about 3 days.
It generally takes the Scavi Office much longer to confirm the credit card charge than to confirm a tour.
Thanks for the replies - still haven't gotten my confirmation, but now I'm not as worried.
Believe it or not, you can actually walk up to the Scavi Office, without a reservation, and sometimes, not often, but sometimes, get in for a tour either later in the day, or the next few days. If you don't have a reservation before leaving, it's always worth a try to call them or drop by while in Rome. A Scavi Tour-which is a must-see for Rome, IMO, can happen without reserving way in advance. It does happen.
I couldn't believe it, but when I woke up this morning, there in my inbox, was an email with a final confirmation for the Scavi tour! Thanks for encouraging me to send a third email. I had given up hope.
Good for you, Barbara. Enjoy the tour, and have a great trip!
Got mine this morning also! What day and time in May are you going, Barbara?
I forgot to ask whether a small purse is allowable. Since the instructions forbid bulky objects such as suitcases and backpacks, I assume that it's okay???
Small purse is okay.

It took six weeks to get my reservation.
I paid for it the same day and had a receipt within 24 hours. Good Luck!@ |
