Cowboy1968, sorry to beat a dead horse but Patty's post occurred after mine so I didn't have her answer. And there was no need for you to to "yell"--these are the kinds of things that turn off people from valid discussions.
As I said, my late husband did the tipping and he usually did a percentage of the price of our hotel for housekeeping and a percentage of the price of a meal, a drink or the taxi ride for those things, etc. Based on that alone did I pose my question. We rarely took advantage of concierge services even if we did stay at hotels that offered them (rare! LOL). |
PS-here's one link 6 years-old so the $20 max may be low now?

Thanks...am trying to find out what would be expected practices are in Europe (if they are different than the US, since tipping a server is quite less in Europe than what is expected in the US).
I have several answers and all I can really do is go by the one that feels "right" to me. I was hoping that I might see the same answer several times and that would settle it for me. I rarely use the service of a concierge but this time, I have to "pay" for my lack of Italian language skills. Thanks everyone. I appreciate your responses. |
TDudette,
Patty posted that there was no percentage several hours before your posting, not after. So instead of focussing on "snarky Christina" and capitals ( and yes, it was intended as shouting) you would have found your question answered already. |
That's basically what I do. Tip what I feel is right. It's really not standardized like US restaurant tipping nor is it always expected.

OK Cowboy, let it go. TDudette is a familiar poster and shouting is not really necessary. Your message may get lost in the CAPS. Just let one go by occasionally, sometimes posts are missed or not seen. It never hurts to assume the best of intentions.
Thanks Patty... Just wanted to be sure I wasn't way off base. |
Thanks denisea. Patty's first post mentioned what she paid. It didn't address the percentage question.
