Concern about curfew at Fraterna Domus...some questions
 

We are thinking of staying here. We are not into drinking and partying, so that isn't an issue. But we do like to see as much as we can...and we will only have 3 nights in Rome.

Will we be missing much if we stay there and have to get back by 11pm? Are any sights, or any cafes open around this time? Are there any fun night spots that we will miss out on, or beautiful sights that we won't be able to see?? We will be staying there Mon-Wed, so it won't be a weekend. We will be there at the end of May.

Any help would be great. We have never been to Rome so are not sure what the sober night life is like.

Well - it really just depends on what you want to do. You can easily have a nice dinner and a little stroll and get back by 11pm. You would also be able to see the various piazzas and fountains lit up before 11.

But obviously you would have to forego the nightlife - don;t know anywhere that the nightlife even begins much before 11pm.

I think that you will be ok there, try to get early starts in the mornings and you will be exhausted by 11pm anyway. If you don't do nightlife you won't be missing much after eleven. I am a nightowl and I can sit in P. Navona after midnight just taking in the sights with a gelato, but that isn't for everyone. Locals eat dinner later than most Americans so you can have a restaurant almost to yourselves and eat early.

Check out the little chapel at F. Domus, it is so delicate and beautiful.

Thanks for the info. It is still a tough decision. Is it right that the sun will set around 8:30 pm in Rome in May? If so, that isn't much dark to enjoy.

Let me pose it this way. Of the beautiful things to see at night, can they be enjoyed enough for an hour or so over a 3 day period? I guess it is a weird question, but let me know what you think.

we really are people that love to sit and enjoy the time passing, but since it is our first time in Rome, we will probably just spend our time loafing when we go to Paris after Rome on this trip. I figure we will be doing a lot of running around for the three days in Rome.

eric - What other option do you have? And what's the difference in cost?

Analyze it this way...is it worth that many €'s to risk missing those "beautiful things to see at night"?
