Complete, small map of Rome?
We use "Paris Pratique par Arrondissement" as our map of choice in Paris. Is there a map of Rome similar in scope and size? If so, can we get it at Amazon.com or do we have to wait until we get to Rome?
Thank you so much. |
Several of the best guidebooks have maps in them, and you can pick up a carry-around map of the city from the tourist office when you arrive. Most hotels have them also.

Thanks, but we're looking for a map that has "every" street and alley on it. We love to explore hidden byways.

Amazon has a Lonely Planet map and atlas of Rome that sounds like just what you want.

Thank you. I'll surf over and check it.
I really appreciate your help. |
Hi
I have found the Streetwise Guides to be very complete. |
I agree with Ira, the Streetwise Maps are great, though I prefer the Artwise Maps which are just the same but highlight the museums, etc. They are made of a coated material which makes them waterproof, great on rainy days, and they fold accordian wise so that they are easy to open and close. They fold to about the size of a business envelope. You can get them at many book stores or they have a website where you can order direct. It is www.streetwisemaps.com

The problem with many maps of Rome is that they don't include some neighborhoods out of the centro storico, like Testaccio and San Lorenzo. Many only show a small portion of Trastevere. If you want a very detailed map of Rome with every alley and vicolo, get the small Roma Atlante Tascabile (a small, spiral bound book) by Michelin. It is light and fits into a pocket and it has every street in the entire city.

Try the laminated one by B&B City Streets.

Grinisa, "Roma Atlante Tascabile" (a small, spiral bound book) by Michelin sounds like exactly what I'm seeking. Those laminated maps leave off half the streets. They're fine if you go where tourists are supposed to go, but when you wander off the beaten path, the streets don't exist. Yours sounds more like the "Paris Pratique" which, although not spiral bound, is a bound book map that covers everything.
I'll check the Michelin web site. Thank you so much. |
