como in november
 

Has anyone been to the lakes region in november? I'm noticing most places seem to be closed for the month.Is it worth going? Any hotel recommendations{under 100$double?

Good afternoon, Robert <BR>Have only been into Venice and Lugano <BR>in November and December, Venice was <BR>foggy and cool with minimun tourists. <BR>Lugano was bright and sunshiny during <BR>the day but a little cooler at night. <BR>Town did not die after dark, the one <BR>main square was crowded well into the <BR>evening.. Yes, some hotels and pensiones do close down Nov. 1. We had trouble finding a place open a couple of years ago. But even little Belaggio is still an alive town. The ferries still run, and you may get in on some fall festivals, like the town chestnut roast in Varenna. We especially enjoyed the lush greenery and blooming flowers - I remember masses of gorgeous hydrangeas in Cernobbio (I think that's the name of the tiny town across the lake), and flowering vines cascading over walls along the stepped cobblestone streets. The micro-climate allows things to bloom and grow through the winter. <BR>Yes, it's certainly worth a visit in November.

Hi Robert: I have visited Venice in September, beautifull, no warm no cool. I am planning to go Venice on november 2nd. half. I know about will be at 12C during day, damp, chill and eventualy cool. Of course no flowers, a few hours of sun. But San Marcos Plaza, San Marcos Cathedral, the Rialto bridge, etc; they will be there. Misty? Foggy? I am excited from now thinking in the profile of Signora of Salute church from San Marcos duck, in the middle of the mist. <BR>But, if experts travelers think that it is a mistake to visit Venice in Fall, please tell us, we will appreciate your advice.
