Como-Bellagio

Hi - I have one more question on lake como. I'd like to spend a day in Bellagio and head back to Como (where I will be staying for 2 nights) after dinner. From what I gather the ferry and/or bus stop running in early evening. Is there any other way to get back to Como at night?

You could check the train schedules from Varenna. You would take the ferry across the lake from Bellagio to Varenna and walk up the hill to the train station.

The web site for trains is:

You can download the schedule for the ferry (and other boats) at :

The last bus from Bellagio to Como departs daily at 18:55 (arrival 20:00). This is the preferred method of travel, and the fare is only Euro 2.50.

On Saturdays only, there is a hydrofoil from Bellagio at 20:00 (arrival Como 20:30).

On Sundays from July 4th through September 12th only, there is a ferry boat from Bellagio at 19:57 (arrival Como 21:3

Taking the train from Varenna will require a change in Monza, and travel time of about 2 hours. There are departures at 20:20 and 21:24, but you still need to take a ferry from Bellagio to reach Varenna, then walk uphill to the train station (at night). I'd discard this option.

There is always taxi service.

A land taxi will cost around 50 Euros (or 20 times the cost of the public bus).

I don't think you want to pay for a "water taxi" all the way to Como! I can't even guess as to the cost.
