The tri bands you get from mobal will be fine all over the world except perhaps in the Americas as they will be 900/1800/1900.

I do remember about 2 years ago we had a discussion on the board as to whether the phone sold my Mobal were locked or unlocked. I worked with a friend of mine who needed a phone and we decided the price was pretty good for the Nokia 3100 at the time, a very stripped down Nokia sans camera but as a phone it is excellent. I told him there was no problem because if it was locked, I had the code calculator to unlock nokia phones. Guess what...it came unlocked...we threw away the overpriced mobal sim card and he bought an international sim card from united mobile and has used it ever since......

XYZ--I was not quite as smart as you were as I used the Mobal SIM for a year or two before destroying and throwing it away. I also got the Nokia 3100, and it is a terrific little stripped down phone. It is great for travel.
