common folk restaurant in Warsaw
Someone on this forum recommended a no frills cafeteria style place for lunch in Warsaw- they said it is frequented by the common working people of Poland and has good basic Polish food, inexpensive. I cannot see to locate the post. Does anyone know the name of this place and where it is located?

I have been informed that the places I am referring to are the "bar mleczny"...does anyone have experience with any of these places?? Thanks!

"Bar Mleczny" is slowly a thing of a past in Poland but still exists in few places... Food is cheap but mostly good and fresh - Polish is the only language spoken in those places and cash is the only way to pay for your meal... They serve breakfest / lunch / Diner ...
Here is a list of "Bar Mleczny" in Warsaw - which I got from Online yellow pages ... I can't recommand any of those since did not visited any of those ... although if I was going to try - I would Uniwersytecki - which seems (from address) to be next to Warsaw University - which means students - which also means someone else could help with translations ... Pick up the Lonely Planet to Poland -- they list a few central "bar mleczny"s in Warsaw and Krakow.

Thanks!! - my husband and sister-in-law are both fluent in Polish, so the translation will not be an issue. This is their first return to Poland and they are looking forward to some home-style cooking!
