Coming to Paris in August?
 

Everybody is talking about one thing in Paris today.... It's HOT!

Here's a deal you might want to consider if you're coming to Paris in August or September. The newish MOB Hotel in Saint Ouen is offering a summer deal; most nights are only 79 euro and the rooms are very nice and all air conditioned!. Yes, it is not in the center of Paris. Yes, it is not even technically IN Paris. But it is in Saint Ouen where you can visit the broccantes (and some of the great Gypsy Jazz venues). It's a short bus or metro trip to central Paris.

Friends of mine who live in the City have been taking advantage of their summer offers to spend a night in air conditioning. There's a beautiful terrace bar, a good restaurant and lounge, outdoor movies on Sunday... Last week they had a staycation deal; 99euro with a pizza, a bottle of rose and breakfast.

No, I'm not affiliated in any way with this hotel. I just thought I'd pass on an inexpensive option to anyone looking for something less than 200 euro a night that has aircon.

It was muderously hot in Paris today. We are spending the week at the Hôtel Alhambra, in the 11ème, a hop,skip, and a jump (though you wouldn't be doing any of those today) from Place de la République and an easy walk to the Marché des Enfants Rouges and the Marais. Bastille, too. It's a bit of a quirky place, but it's on a super-quiet street, has a beautiful courtyard garden, and the AC is superb. Beds are comfortable, staff are very helpful, and of course rooms are pretty small but well appointed. I would stay here again - we love this part of Paris. it was 79€ a night when we booked on booking.com. Breakfast is 13€ pp, but we never have breakfasst in Paris hotels, so that wasn't aconcern.

Lots of hotels in Paris with AC are less than 200 euro I night, I always stay in some and have never paid that much. I do pay more than 79 euro but I would never stay in that location myself.

Even the Ibis Budget at 65 euros is air conditioned, I think. In any case, the heat wave is supposed to break on Thursday, and then we were likely to feel cold from thermal shock. From 37°, they say we will go to about 23° in Paris.

I take the tram 3b and the tram 3a quite a bit and I absolutely love the air conditioning in both of them. If only the buses and the metro were like that! They tried to have air conditioned buses a few years ago, but everybody automatically opened all of the windows anyway, even though the request not to open the windows was printed right on them. So they just gave up.
