Either refresh using f5 or log in an out to sort your centre justified issue.

wanderful Mar 17th, 2011 04:57 AM

Everything appears centered, the tags and the posts. I guess it's somerthing I have to get used to.

DeborahAnn Mar 17th, 2011 05:08 AM

Thanks, I did as stilldontknow suggested., I have fodors saved on my favorites and I did figure out I had to log out and then log back in. I saved the new log in to my favorites and now it's fine.

I like the colors ;;) Deborah

ggreen Mar 17th, 2011 05:14 AM

Wow, love the color! Great tie-in with the current Fodor's branding. And a wee bit faster loading, always a good thing.

And the new homepage is so clean! Nice. :)

Kwoo Mar 17th, 2011 05:24 AM

I do not like the centered justification. I find it hard to read. Like others, I hope this is a "bug" and will be changed to left justification.

J62 Mar 17th, 2011 05:28 AM

I too really dislike the centered justification - really hard to read.

unclegus Mar 17th, 2011 05:29 AM

I am finding the loading dead slow today and the new format of the foums is just terrible, there is no clear destiction between posts and the whole thing is difficult to read.
as others have said I hope this is just an early glitch.

Judy Mar 17th, 2011 05:32 AM

My center justification disappeared after I logged out and back in and then refreshed the page.....not sure which of those did it.

mr_go Mar 17th, 2011 05:35 AM

Mine came up center-justified at first, but one touch of the F5 refresh key fixed it.

<b>F5</b> people. Give it a try!

J62 Mar 17th, 2011 05:35 AM

i just learned that refreshing the page fixes the centering problem

wanderful Mar 17th, 2011 05:36 AM

Yep, my centering issue is gone.

unclegus Mar 17th, 2011 05:41 AM

yes, that looks a great deal better.
I quite like the layout now.

GoAway Mar 17th, 2011 05:56 AM

Maybe it's just me, but the color scheme and fonts seem to be really hard to read. The change seems to be too much form over function.

The light blue headers are particularly problematic. There's just not enough contrast. I don't have a problem with it for the poster's name, but for topic headings, it's really bad.

I'm not crazy about the wide orange banner (isn't orange considered a hostile color?) but it doesn't affect the readability of the posts the way the font and headings do.

Amy_D Mar 17th, 2011 06:23 AM

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the feedback. I've read through the post and am taking notes. Just a few quick things - the center alignment is not correct and we working to fix it. As other Fodorites have mentioned, logging out and back in, refreshing the page, and pressing F5 seem to be solving the problem. We're also working on pumping up the lines that separate the comments. If you have any other problems/questions, please email me ([email protected])

annhig Mar 17th, 2011 02:19 PM

finally, after I'd tried logging off and on again, and I'd banged the F5 button a few times to nil effect, hitting the refresh button worked and I am no left-justifeid rather than centred. Hurray!

not sure about anything else yet - I needed to fix that first.

DeborahAnn Mar 17th, 2011 02:42 PM

Amy, I like the Fodor's "Travel Intelligence" banner. I also like the blue/orange coloring but I agree with Goaway that there isn't enough contrast with the current shade of blue especially in the small columns on the left, the color looks lite blue/light grey. Thanks for being a good listener, Amy. Deborah

humptynumpty Mar 17th, 2011 02:54 PM

ann

tip your screen to the left and shake it. You'll find the text re-aligns to the left quite nicely.

I don't like new.

I am over 40, new is for kids.

I like soft old loved things.

alihutch Mar 17th, 2011 02:57 PM

humpty numpty I'm in your age bracket. I think it's a great improvement....

Maudie Mar 17th, 2011 03:54 PM

F5 fixed it for me and I now have each posting separated. The only issue I have is the size of the orange banner at the top, on my little net book it almost takes up half the screen, is there an easy fix for this?

But I am happy with the "new look" as it really doesn't seem to be much different.

quokka Mar 17th, 2011 03:57 PM

F5 did the trick, indeed. Much better layout now! But the after-F5 font is not nice to read. The spaces between the letters are too narrow.

grandmere Mar 17th, 2011 04:02 PM

How does one fix the centering issue on a Mac; F5 does not do it.

grandmere Mar 17th, 2011 04:04 PM

Disregard my last post; got it to work.

scotlib Mar 17th, 2011 04:35 PM

OMG :-)

I opened a page for Fodor's, then a couple more in quick succession, so when I closed those to end on Fodors .. Ack!!! .. mostly an okay Ack! .. the surprising ORANGE just hit me, lol.

Calming down .. the font is harder to read .. in the thread. I can read the column of 25 entries okay, but the thread is hard on the eyes, for me.

ps: okay, I'll grant you the 'crisp, new' .. it's definitely new up top, and the lack of fluffernutter stuff .. guess you can call it 'crisp' ;-)

pps: boy, is it orange! Makes me want a Fodor's tote bag!

lincasanova Mar 17th, 2011 05:11 PM

I think the background is too bright.

adrienne Mar 17th, 2011 05:23 PM

The orange is a bit more acceptable since the Westin advertising has been loaded - it cuts the orange a bit. It was really shocking this morning without advertising.

Nonconformist Mar 18th, 2011 02:52 PM

It's still centre justified today (makes it look very amateurish).

Dayenu Mar 18th, 2011 03:06 PM

Sign up with GOP, you will be right-justified.

oliverandharry Mar 18th, 2011 03:24 PM

Oh, lord. Orange and blue. Go Broncos.

iris1745 Mar 18th, 2011 03:44 PM

Have been away for a week. What's the problem??? There is no problem for a soon to be a 76 year old. Thanks Amy. Others who had good suggestion and comments about the new format and what the problems were are to be commended. There are always a few negative people. Richard

kerouac Mar 20th, 2011 04:27 AM

I'm glad that the centering is gone. The orange is a bit too orange for me, but I'll get used to it.

TDudette Mar 20th, 2011 05:03 AM

I love it! Looks like the orange got scaled down a little. Good job and thanks for listening.

Nonconformist Mar 20th, 2011 05:37 AM

It's still centred for me ;(

It is a very *bright* orange but I can live with that.

ggreen Mar 20th, 2011 12:55 PM

Nonconformist, the centering is a bug: in order to get rid of it, you have to *clear your cache*. If refreshing (F5) and/or logging out and in again doesn't do it, go to Tools for your browser and look for the option to clear your cache. Do that, log in again and you should be good to go.
