Coming June 11, 2007: New Michelin maps and guides on SD chips

For several years, a viable alternative to printed maps and guides has been Michelin Maps and Route Plans, the software version of their famous paper-based products. The latest in that series, ViaMichelin Navigation 5 will be available soon, with all the features of dedicated GPS units - and then some:

GPS support
Voice prompted driving directions
Runs on Windows PC and some PDAs
Integral Michelin Green and Red guides
Route finding with automatic recomputing

If you buy either of the Europe Zone SDs, you get the entire rest of Europe on a DVD (to load onto your own chips).

Thanks!

This looks good, but is it not compatible with Dell Axim? I think my husband is leaning toward the Dell Axim.

Which Ipag is the best currently?

Robespierre Jun 19th, 2007 07:19 PM

Dell quit the Axim business. I think that's a dead end (from the support point of view).

The hottest iPAQ for you depends on what you want to do. The rx5915 is a great GPS platform, and the hw6945 is the iPHONE killer.

Will it work with the Garmin Nuvi 660 GPS?

ssachida Jan 8th, 2008 01:20 PM

no, only garmin maps work on garmin GPS units.

The Michellin software+maps are for windows OS based handhelds

Robespierre Jan 8th, 2008 05:38 PM

And Garmin maps only work on Garmin GPS receivers.

And Michelin maps work on a wide variety of receivers, and a wide variety of receivers support a wide variety of GPS software that's not Garmin.
