Comfy BOOTS for European travel??
 

I know we have tons of threads on this board about comfy walking shoes, but I am looking for some boot recommendations instead!!

I will be in Germany/Austria at the end of Nov. and first two weeks of December. I expect that not only will it be cold then, but also rainy and slushy (if not downright snowy). So I'm looking for a waterproof, warm boot that will keep my feet toasty but also look good with pants, as well as with skirts/black tights. However I need to get something I know will be comfy for many miles and hours of walking!! I know this is a tall order!!

I also have wide feet, so I'm looking for something that might come in wide sizes, but I'll consider all options!!

All of the above specialize in waterproof, insulated boots, and all offer some very dressy options that are also comfortable. Consider an orthotic (easy to fit in a boot) if you're doing a lot of walking.

Jen-- your boots' requirements read like federal government specifications-- you sure you don't them to also fly across the room on command? :-D Just kidding~!!

I suggest you go online magellan and easy spirit.

I bought a pair of boots a couple of months ago from La Canadienne...so far, I really liked it.Warm and comfy. I'll be using it for my trip to Paris and environs next week, and again on our trip to Austria and Germany this coming Christmas/New Year.

Frye. They will conform to your foot and last forever.

Born 'Dryz' are good and I like Merrell's but I don't wear skirts more than once in a blue moon...and then I don't wear them with boots!

Mephisto has a GREAT new knee boot out...go on nordstrom.com to view them. I viewed them day before last.

Also, go on dsw.com to look for boots. I've been boot shopping since the end of summer and just found a pair, on line yesterday. My problem is that I have a 15 and a half-16 inch calf and most boots go up to around 14. I have medium width feet, so no problem there.
I even flew up to S.F. for 5 days (from L.A.) to see if I could find a pair of good walking boots up there as my great Easy Spirit walking boots are on their last life. I've walked all over Europe in them for at least 4 years now. Try easyspirit.com.

You can also try sofft.com which has a great pair that laces up the back. I saw them at DSW in San Francisco, They just didn't have my correct size. Happy Travels!

I bought a pair of Dansko short boots last year and they were very confy, I have wide feet & got a size larger.

The poly sole & heel makes them easier on the knees and less tiring to walk.

I like all the ones Therese recommends and have several if them. My favorite are blondos - my pair have thick rubber soles that are great on wet cobbles. They're loose enough to wear with medium wool socks so my feet stay warm.

But I love the look of the patent ones M. Fifi recommends.

An orthotic in the boot will work wonders.

Yesterday, QVC aired several pair of boots from Clarks that are exactly what you specified. Just check the "Items Recently Aired" section, or look up under the "Clarks" brand.

La Canadienne has always been well recommended here.

I haven't tried them yet, but plan to.
