Colosseum Tours: By day? Night? Both?
Hi everyone,
This is our first (and only) visit as a family to Rome.
We'd like to tour the Colosseum and have been reading about tours in the daytime AND at night (both where you get access to the underground and arena floor).
Can anyone offer experience-based opinions on touring at both times of day? Is there any wisdom in doing both?
TIA

Oh, day tour absolutely. The views from up top (or as high as they will let you go these days) are splendid, and it is great to be able to see where you are putting your feet on those uneven old stones.
if you have time for a second tour, I strongly recommend Domus Aurea, the excavations of Nero’s golden palace. Excellent, digestible history lessons from the guides and a really cool virtual reality interlude.
