Colosseum/Palatine/Forum, the Borghese and the Roma Pass

I am still confused about the Roma Pass. The site says it is 30 euros. We are presently scheduled to see the Colosseum/Palatine/Forum with a guide and she indicated the ticket price for those combined sites was 12 euros. When we told her we may also want to see the Borghese, she suggested we may want to buy the Roma Pass. However, the cost to enter the Borghese is 9.50 euros. If these are the only museums we plan to see, why would we buy the Roma Pass for 30 euros (more than 12 + 9.50)?

Assuming I am missing something, how can I reserve a time at the Borghese without paying so I can still use the Roma Pass?

Thanks so much.

Why get the Roma Pass? It covers free entry to the first 2 visited museums and discounted ticket to all other museums PLUS free use of the city’s public transport network. Your guide is assuming youmight be interested in doing more or using public transport. Only you can decide.

Per the Galleria Borghese's official website:

"Clients holding a Romapass card are invited to just reserve admission calling +390632810."

I believe the Borghese is actually more than 9.50 as there is a booking fee involved of several euro(reservations are mandatory)in addition to the entrance fee. The price of the Roma Pass increased 5€ in January. I think this was in part because of the planned price increase for public transport in Rome which is supposed to go into effect in June. I think they were also anticipating some price increases at various sites. Additionally, many of the tourist sites will have special exhibits during summer. When there is a special exhibit, the fee for the exhibit (typically 3-7€) is added to any entrance fee, but included in the cost of the Roma Pass.

The Roma Pass includes free admission to your first two sites and best value is to visit the most expensive ones. After that, you get discounts for entrance to other sites. You also have the free transport for three days. It's hard to make it pay off with the price increase.

Pierreci is the official booking link for the Colosseum/Forum/Palantine. When you start to purchase it will roll over to ticketclic. I believe there is a 1€ booking fee. The ticket will be good for two days. If there is going to be an exhibition the price will be added to your ticket.

One advantage of the Roma Pass is bypassing ticket lines. You can also bypass the lines purchasing from Pierreci/ticketclic.

Hi guys!
Roma pass is worth it, if you use it to full advantage.
We bought ours at the Termini station took the Metro to the Coloseo stop.
There is a line to enter the Coloseum through the security check but after that keep left and pass all the people in line to scan your pass in the turnstile. At the Forum we just showed the pass.

So what did you do to get your money's worth? So far, you've only described using 13€ (Colosseum/Forum/Palantine is 12€, subway is 1€) of the 30€ pass.
