Does anyone know the cost of a train ticket from Cologne/Bonn airport to the main train station in Cologne? The German rail site does not give pricing.

The rail site won't give you a price b/c it's the jurisdiction of the Cologne public transit authority. In any case, I looked it up with them, and it seems that a one-way ticket would be 2.00 EUR.

Do you also know how long it takes to get to the airport from the Cologne train station? I'm planning to use this in Oct.

Also, is it generally the same cost to buy train tickets right at the train station before boarding or is it cheaper if I purchase the tickets 2-3 days earlier?

It takes 11 to 14 minutes from the main station to the airport.

For local transport there is no reduction for advance purchase, but there is a reduction for buying a carnet or book of several tickets.
