Cologne Airport

Hi everyone,

After some advice I already got for this forum, I have booked flights for a trip to Spain through german wings, but I will have to overnight in Cologne before I can catch my plane back to Switzerland. Does anyone know if it is possible to just stay in the airport overnight? I know that it won't be the most comfortable thing, but my flight leaves really early in the morning and I am really bad for sleeping through my alarm! I am only 18 and don't have a lot of money to spend on a hotel near the airport unless I can find a really cheap one. Any suggestions? I can't miss my flight that morning because I have to work that same afternoon!

You need to call one of the airlines servicing the Cologne airport and ask about whether the airport is open all night. I'm not sure if it is, but even if it is open, you might have some difficulty just "hanging around" and sleeping on a chair or couch without some cop waking you up. Good luck.

swissmiss85,

Can you swing 77 EUR for a hotel? Then check out the Ibis am Dom:

http://www.accorhotels.com/accorhote...he_hotel.shtml

It's located at the Hauptbahnhof, where you can catch a bus to the airport. They will certainly be able to give you a wake-up call and you can enjoy the town in the evening.

Perhaps somewhat cheaper and near the airport I found this:
"Airport Hotel. Waldstrasse 216. Tel. 02203-9268-5. Flughafen in 15 Minuten zu Fuß erreichbar oder mit Buslinie 161 (alle 30 Minuten) 3 Stationen."

Finally, REAL cheap (EUR 27 for a single) would be this place:

House 1 is located right near the station.

Hope this helps,
Andre

BTW, it looks like you **can** spend the night at the airport, if you really want to:

Hope this helps,

My only question is if you DO sleep in the airport (or are you planning to stay up all night) WHO is going to give you a wake-up call?

Thanks for the tips. I'll probably spring for a hotel near the airport and actually get a decent night's sleep!
