Collision damage waiver in ireland

I'm trying to figure out if there is a credit card out there that will cover the colision damage waiver when renting a car in Ireland. Anyone have any suggestions? I have a mastercard that once covered it until June or July of 2010 and a Diners card is a corporate business card that is not an option for me. Thanks for the help.

World MasterCard (first 4 letters 5466) will cover CDW IF the auto company will accept it. And many companies, Dan Dooley for sure, will accept it, but put a hold on your card for $2,000+ if you use the credit card's coverage. Dan Dooley also charges €25 for the privilege. For the 8 days I was looking at, the CDW is about $42, hardly making up for the €25 charge, so I will take a deep breath and pay Dooley.

I will get Super CDW from Insurance4carhire.

I have a World Master Card like that and it specifically excludes Ireland in the big pack of docs I received with the card. So I went with Dan Dooleys CDW and got the Insurance4Hire which was on sale when I got it. Nice to have, hopefully won't need it when we travel on the August 22nd.

Maybe I should re-check with World Master Card. It's been a couple of years since I've driven in Ireland, but they covered then -- have a letter saying so -- again, two years ago. Hmmmm

We always buy the extra insurance when renting a car in Ireland even though we may have separate coverage. It saves a lot of hassle if you have a problem. Hubcap damage is quite common and it did happen to us - damaging the hubcap at the curbs. With the extra insurance you just drop the car off and thats it - no inspections etc.

I did as others for our upcoming (first) trip in September to Ireland. Two week rental.

CDW from Dan Dooley, rental company.
Excess from Insurance4Hire.
