Perhaps the parents saw this flick on cable?

:-D

Prague is one of the safest, fun cities for young people. Drugs, alcohol, sex? sure! but show me a place where it's not available and I will tell you that you live in a fantasy world.

If the kids want to experiment it does not have to be Prague, it can be in Champaign, Il or Athens, OH or GA or any other university town in the world.....

Hilarious! If they're old enough to travel to Prague then they're certainly old enough to give their shadow/bodyguard/babysitter the slip and enjoy themselves with the rest of the 20-year olds in one of Europe's most fun cities.

Their parents should either let their 20 year old "children" go to Prague or not. If they can't be trusted in bars at the age 20 then they shouldn't be let out at all and should be kept at home firmly tied to the apron strings.

ydoc-I realize that you are just asking this question for your friend, not for your own kids. And it is a little difficult to know exactly what your friend is looking for. She apparantly doesn't really want to hire a PI to "shadow" the girls. But I am quite surprised that she would deem two 20 year old college students who live on their own and have traveled extensively in France so clueless as to not be able to go to a bar in Prague by themselves.

She should give them the standard - "what to look out for as a woman" talk and then butt out. Or, if she is the one footing the bill then she can either book them for a tour or not give them the money to do something that she doesn't think they are capable of doing.

But really, understanding that your own kids are not old enough (at least from your prior posts) - the girls at college get lots of "how to avoid date rape" advice. It is all over the place. My own 20 year old daughter is spending the year in France. She's off to Morocco next week and no, I'm not thrilled about it and I will worry. But she is fairly street smart- partly from traveling on her own at 17 with HS friends. I know you are just trying to help your friend out but maybe you need to tell her to get more realistic about the expectations she has for her daughter.

Come on someone must be able to answer the question and help the poor OP.

We used Personal Prague Guide for some 1/2 day tours of Prague. They offer a tour called: Nightlife of Prague - beer, absint and local pubs. Maybe this is what your friend orginally had in mind?

"Are you interested in the Prague night life? Looking for the best pubs, clubs and friendly talk about local life, people and the culture?
Our friendly english speaking guides - Eva or Ondra - will be happy to show you the best from the Prague pubs, clubs, night bars, parties, imfamous quartes - as Zizkov, discotheques ... and places I don`t want to write about ... but you can ask them personally ... .
These guides are cheerful and reliable young "Prague insiders". They like the Prague night life, local clubs, bars and restaurants."

I just don;t get it.

If the students are so dumb that they will let strangers drop things into their drinks in Prague - how have they managed to avoid it in the US (where presumably they;re out with groups of friends all the time).

Really this post is so silly.

Either it portrays Prague as a den of iniquity and sin (it's not).

Or it sounds like the girls are close to feeble-minded (and how would they be in college).

they;re grown women - just leave them alone to live their lives.

Oh my god, where did all the opinions come from. I did not ask for opinions so here are the facts!

1.) I explained the situation incorrectly in the first post, I corrected myself in the second post.

2.) The girls want someone young to take them out to the bars at night in Prague.. Someone who knows the local scene and could introduce them to other students. But also could be there for them.

3.) The girls do not want an escort instead would love an inside person such as a responsible student from Prague.

4.) The parents are very open minded... They have homes in France, Florida, and Italy! They are not trying to control the girls! They have a wonderful, open/adult relationship with their daughter and actually their daughter is very close to us. She comes to our house, has dinner and oh my god... drinks wine with us! How could we be so open minded and "with it" asking such a "stupid" question on here!

5.) I would never be talking about someone's parents the way some of you here have which leads me to believe you don't have children.

6.) I have taken down the wonderful suggestions which have been given to me.

7.) I have nothing against Prague nor do the parents. The girls have traveled to other large cities with connections showing them around, Prague is just another new city where we have and the parents have no connections!

8.) Those of you with such strong opinions should self-evaluate yourselves and find out what struck such a nerve!

I am finished with this post!

I do mean thank you for those of you who took the time to answer my post with suggestions!

ydoc,
no one here means any dissrespect I'm sure.
I have a 20yr old and a 17yr old, I am confident that either of them would be safe, aware and mature enough to visit Prague with a friend, or even alone.

My 20yr old is planning a trip to Australia, Singapore and Tokyo when he finishes Uni this summer. Character building and a damn good experience for him. My Daughter (17) is already hinting about such trips.

Get out and see the world, use the common sense that hopefully me and their mum have given them.

Be sensible and be safe just as they would anywhere.
And above all enjoy !!!!
