coins for Laundromat & Restrooms

Can anyone tell me what coin change we need in Laundromats and public restrooms in europe? Also are there enough public restrooms in europe like home?

Thanks.

Ganesansgi,

Don't worry about that; in the laundromats you'll find machines to change your bills for coins ( 1E is the coin you need), not all the restrooms charge you, but you pay between 0.30E to 0.80E.
You'll find them everywhere, most of them are very clean.

Let me know if I can help you with something else.

Hi gan,

In Paris, the outdoor toilettes require 0.40 E. The take .05, .10 and .20 coins. They don't make change.

Are there driers also in the Laundromat?

Ganesansgi,
Yes there are. Usually in 10 minute increments, so bring a lot of coins.

The set up will be the same as the U.S. washers, dryers etc and coin machines as well as detergent you can buy. Some restrooms change but most in Ireland do not its not a big deal keeping buckets of change. You will always have enough for toilets.

Most often, for toilets, you will leave coins in a dish by the attendant, or hand it to the attendant. I've used a couple of 'automated' types where you insert coins to access the stall or toilet area.

In Paris, it seems laundromats ("laverie") often have a central repository for your coins - you drop in the coins and press a button that corresponds to the machine you want to use. (In America, you usually put the coins into slot on the individual machine).

There is usually a sign posted at the entrance to restrooms to advise you how much to use it, and there is usually someone in the laundromats (another customer or an attendant) that will help interpret how you use the machines.

The public restrooms in Venice required a 50euro coin. The laundry facilities in Venice would take paper money. The laundry facilities in Florence would take paper money also, but gave change in tokens only to be used there.
