Coffee Crazy: Part Deux--The Iced Version

That coffee thread got me thinking...sorry if I stole the title...but I thought it best I start my own thread.

I generally can't start my day without my "Double Iced Americano w/ a little bit of soy" I get from my little, local coffee place. I also adore hot coffee...but save that for after my iced one. It's really because they recognize my car at the drive-thru (yes...drive thru coffee here in lil ole Fairfax) and always deliver the iced one...so I have gotten accustomed to having that in the morning.

Gosh...long winded tonight...what I'm trying to ask is:

Are iced espresso drinks common in Paris....or will they look at me like I'm a kooky American?

Common..non
Available....maybe at Starbucks

That's really ironic, because I myself asked for a "double-iced Americano with a little bit of soy" at my favorite streetcorner Parisian cafe.
They told me to "Get out, you ice-hole!"

Considering how difficult it is to get more than a single ice cube in a drink, I can't imagine where they'd find enough ice to last through pouring even a single espresso shot over it.

Ha! Funny.
I too think about things like that.
In my experience, there's only one kind of coffee in Paris, and that's espresso.
you can get "american" coffee, and espresso w/ lait....after your meal please.
There are several starbucks around now, and you can sneak in with dark glasses and a trench coat to fulfill your iced double soy mocha skinny latte with carmel. i did! after days and days of 4 euro french coffee (which i love too) i wanted a change, and voila, a starbucks. 9 times out of 10, i go to a locally owned cafe over starbucks.(here and abroad)..i can't believe i made an exception in Paris of all places. But um, that double short carmel machiato was divine.

Loved your response platzman!!

I guess I will have to forgo my iced americano. Oh well...that's OK...it's only for a week. I cannot bring myself to go into a Starbucks...they have forced out so many "mom & pop" coffee places here in the bay area, I now unofficially boycott them. I will go into a Peet's Coffee on the other hand...but only in a pinch.

I actually prefer my hot coffee very strong and black...no cream, sugar, soy, etc. So I am looking forward to un cafe.

Thanks for all your posts!!

STILL laughing at yours platzman!! :-)
