Codeine in Paris w/out a Rx

Can you still buy Tylenol/aspirin with CODEINE over the counter at pharmacies in Paris? I just read an old thread that said that practice was going to stop. Can anyone name a specific pharmacie (City Pharmacie?) where you can buy Tylenol w/codeine and cough syrup w/codeine without the benefit of a script?

Havana, you already have a reply to your other posting. Click your name and you will find it.

Havana,

I think you need a prescription in France now (I might be wrong). Germany requires a Rx as well. Does anyone know about the Czech Republic? Also, the equivalent to Excedrin is very expensive there (about the only thing that works on my headaches).

You don't need a prescription for many combined products with very low doses of codeine, principally pain relievers (especially migraine remedies).

It seems to me that cough syrup with codeine ued to be one of the things that a Pharm could dispense without an Rx - but it was not on the shelves - the Pharm had to hand it out and keep records for it.

It seems like this is a sensible compromise - since it's really not necessary to bother the Doc with evey cough/cold and the cough syrup has so little codeine you would need gallons to become an abuser.

Don;t know how much codeine is in the Tylenol version in europe, so can;t comment.

But don;t think any of these should just be on shelves to be bought at random since they are narcotics - and dangerous in large enough quantities.

But for the trip - why not just get the med you need in advance from your MD and take it with you?
