Cobh or Kinsale?

Driving in May from Dublin toward Dingle, I've seen enough on this board that we've decided to go thru these and stay 1 night along the way and 1 night in Kenmare as well.

Which of the above 2 would you recommend to spend a night along the way.

We are very partial to Kinsale. Whatever you chose, get there early enouch so you will have the whole day & evening to enjoy if you only have one night. ((b))

I agree with Budman. Kinsale is a delightful town with a nice little harbor and some really good food.

Have a great trip!

BTW, should we stop in Cashil or Cahir or both, along the way to look around?

My vote is for Kinsale for all the above reasons. If you like history, it was off her coast that a German sub sunk the Lusitania and brought the US into the war. However,if you have time to take a drive to Cobh (it's not that far)It also has a lot of history. Once known as Queenstown it is the port where many thousands left the Famine of 1844-48 for new life in America. The first imigrant thru Ellis Island came from Queenstown,(Cobh). It was also the last port of call for the Titanic.

PS By all means stop by the Rock of Cashil. We also enjoyed touring the castle in Cahir (I think I remember it being a Norman castle)
