Cluckingham Palace - the UK's Grandest Chicken Coop!

England has a raft of stately houses, palaces, villas, etc and now there is one devoted to raising chickens, dubbed Cluckingham Palace, in the the West England village of English Bicknor - so if in the area pop into to see this curiosity!

http://dealbook.nytimes.com/2014/05/...ype=blogs&_r=0

Wiki: "English Bicknor is a village and civil parish in the Forest of Dean district of west Gloucestershire, England. According to the United Kingdom Census 2001 the population is 406. The village is close to the county border with Herefordshire, opposite which is the village of Welsh Bicknor. The two towns lie on different sides of the River Wye, which forms part of the national boundary between England and Wales, hence their respective epithets."

Why on earth would anyone want to see such a thing, even if they were in the are and I doubt that the owner would let you have a conducted tour.
Btw, I love the NYT's notion of "old money". Father and grandfather were in trade

As a story about eccentricity/a folly its quite interesting. The subsequent biography/fawning seems unnecessary.

Actually, if you want to see buildings designed for birds as food, ancient dovecotes are far more interesting

Debo Cavendish raises chickens.

One took a dump on my Aunt Judith's shoe when she was interviewing her for Channel 4.
