Are Jeans excepted in tourist areas, will they be to hot in June and July?

Yes, they are accepted in all tourist areas. Naturally, if you think that jeans are hot and linen pants or skirts are cooler - - well, then yes, you might think that the cooler choice would be preferred.

Best wishes,

Yes to both of your queries.

We went in June a few years ago and it was scorching. I would not recommend to wear jeans in hot, humid weather. It was around mid to high 80's daily.

Every Italian designer features jeans in their collections, all the Italians wear them!

For summer, I'd advise trying to find raw denim jeans - these have the lightweight properties of linen, but without the horrendous creasing, and they fall much more pleasantly on the legs. They are most usually available in the standard blue/grey one most associates with denim, however, bleached raw denim which takes on an antique white colour - even more summery. A word of caution however, on a dreadfully practical note, raw denim cannot come into contact with water, if it does it will shrink dramatically!

Helmut Lang is one of numerous designers offering raw denim jeans this season.

It was so humid last summer in Rome that I would have felt much too hot in jeans.

If one is a long trouser wearer in the summer, and let's face it, with most people's legs they should be, then raw denim which is very thin is the perfect jeans/linen trousers hybrid.

Depends on how comfortable you want to be. "Hot and humid" in Rome is the same as "hot and humid" in Philadelphia or whatever place you've experienced it.
You'll see LOTS of people wearing denim in Italy so yes, it is "acceptable."
Question is only how comfortable, heat-wise you may feel if YOU wear it.

Once again, jeans are as much as a "rage" in Europe as they are here int he USA. You will see the popular Diesel, Levis, Tommy, Calvin and every other designer you can think of....

Last June women in Rome were wearing a lot of linen. Good thing, since the heat was unbearable.
