Clothing for Spain in early September

My daughter and I are headed to Spain in early September. We are doing a fully escorted Cosmos 16 day tour. Any advice on the type clothing we should take? Is it chilly in the evenings? In Italy we had to cover up our shoulders for church visits, is it the same in Spain?

Any suggestions on good ice-cream places in Madrid and Barcelona? We are ice-cream lovers.

a little bit of everything as weather will vary with region and because nothing is certain with any weather pattern in Spain.

jerseys in madrid in the evening, brollies on the north coast any time, t-shirts and sandals in the south, nothing at all on the nudist beaches...

Where in Spian? I have traveled to Madrid in early Sept as well as Andalucia then & it was still quite warm. It was I'd say 80 degrees at least & we did swim.

Take layers of clothing that can be added or taken off rather than specific items for hot or cold westher.

I don't find the clothing requirements in churches as strict in Spain as in Italy. You will likely be able to enter churches with bare shoulders and your knees exposed. However, I'd dress respectfully in any case.
