A friend and I will be travelling to Ireland this fall. Because we will be getting from place to place via buses, we have no desire to be burdened with an excess of luggage, and have all but decided to go with 1- 9x16x20 bag with wheels, and a large purse each. My friend and I wear the same size, and have agreed to share each other's sparse wardrobe, as well the self catering homes that we will be renting will have laundry facilities.<BR><BR>If each of us focus on one colour, and each take a warm hooded jacket, 2 pairs matching pants, a skirt, couple of long and short tops, a vest, dressy blazer, 1 white nice blouse, 1 pair jeans, 1 rain resistant jacket, and matching pants, 1 pair walking shoes, and 1 pair dress shoes, can we get by with this, or is there anything else we should bring?

Don't forget your underwear, socks and pantyhose, which you will not be sharing. You can also cut down on some of your health and beauty aids by one person bringing the shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, etc.<BR><BR>You might also consider bringing a sweater, a couple of turtleneck shirts, hat, gloves, scarf, and possibly some long silk underwear.

Hi<BR>I'm known to be a casual dresser so I'm not completely objective here, however, if you're truly trying to condense I think you could do without the skirt, blazer and dress shoes. A nice pair of slacks, sweater and flats would be sufficient for a nice resataurant and would double for the rest of your activities. Layers are the key to comfort and weather navigation! I travelled mostly in the southwest but didn't feel out of place during my short stays in Dubln and Galway wearing casual attire. It's just my my opinion! I'm mid-forties, did a lot of sightseeing (museums,castles,pubs and countryside scenery) while travlelling with family. I wasn't focusing on the social scene! You may be younger and experiencing different types of fun!<BR>What ever you do (or wear!) you'll enjoy Ireland!

I agree that you could REPLACE the SKIRT with another pair of pants. Ireland is very windy around the coast, and I regretted wearing a skirt!<BR>Pack a twin sweater set instead of a blazer--it's just as dressy, less bulky, and gives more layering options

Depending how late in the fall you will be traveling consider silk long underwear top and bottoms, they take up next to no space and add lots of warmth if it turns chilly and wet. I was very happy to have them along last May in Great Britain and Iceland. I would leave the dress shoes but you should have two pairs of shoes just in case you have problems with one pair. If you like wearing skirts rather than pants all the time then find a way to squeeze one skirt in that would look good with the shoes you are bringing. I have a pair of munro mary janes that are great walking shoes and look fine with long or short skirts. I always try to pack lighter with each trip but at the last minute I always end up throwing in things that I really didn't need. Just don't leave packing to the last minute or you might bring things you don't need. I also use the 2 1/2 gallon zip bags to put my clothes in and that gives me more space.
