What is the closest German city to the University of Twente in Enschede?

My little sister has a job at the University of Twente in Enschede, but she would like to live in Germany and commute, so that she can keep her car (German registration & number plate) without getting tangled up in Dutch Customs Vehicle importation technicalities, taxes, etc...

Josh...looks like Gronau, just over the border, is a good sized town. Would seem practical for sis. There is a spa town called Bad Bentheim not too far away. I visited Enshede in 1987 while driving The Netherlands.

My husband worked in Hengelo, just next door to Enschede for manyyears. Some of his colleagues lived in Bad Bentheim, some in Gronau, some in smaller villages around the border. Most of course lived on the Dutch side of the border.

She needs to look into tax and insurance (health care) regulations for cross border living/working.

in any event, if she is serious she should probably take some professional advice. The university may well have someone who can help - it obviously isn't a rare occurrence.
