Cloisters Inn Prague
 

I have already discarded one hotel choice in Prague through to information here about its location. I like the look of Cloisters Inn- it does not appear to have any negative reviews. The location seems perfect. However, I am booking it for my parents( in their 70s) and was wondering if it is suitable for them and if you can live comfortably with out a/c in August.I know there are many Prague experts out there!

I haven't stayed there, did some research on it a little while ago. Assuming you've also read the mostly positive comments at tripadvisor.com?
I can't live comfortably in most cities in the northern hemisphere in August without a/c (Helsinki and points north perhaps excepted)
Aside from their coping with possibly high temperatures, the idea of opening the windows for relief may also let in noise and flying insects, especially so close to the river.

I looked at the weather over the last 4 years for Prague at the end of August and night tmps do not go above the 60s and indeed have gone down to the 50s a few times.
I am going to take the plunge and book Cloisters. As it appears to be in quiet area they could open the windows if it WERE to be too warm at night!

Booked! I have read a review that said they hd a/c. Is this a mistake or do some rooms have it?

I stayed at the hotel for 5 nights two months ago, it is located on a quite street, couple minutes walk to Bethlehem Chapel. In the suumer, it should be all right to open the window without being bothered by too much street noise.

However, it really depends on what type of hotel your parents are used to. The room is clean but fairly basic with hardly any charm. When booking, try to specify in the main building, as it takes more than 5 minutes (plus several short staircases) to walk to the entrance from some rooms in the connected building.

We stayed there in October, 2004. Plusses include the good location, free internet in the lobby with coffee and tea close by, the staff were cheerful and professional, the room and building were clean and there was plenty of hot water for showers. However, the room was VERY basic. I think there are better choices in Prague at less cost.

Thanks again for all the replies. I know this hotel is basic but I like the position of it and the security it seems to have. Tripadvisor rates it very highly.
I have just emailed the hotel requesting a room in the main building.

Just returned from a 4 day stay at Cloister Inn. All of the above post are correct. Very clean, great location, staff very friendly and spoke english lots of hot water in shower, quiet neighborhood, free internet in lobby, free coffee and tea in lobby but rooms very basic.
Yes, I would stay there again.
My single room was not air conditioned but the windows opened to let in fresh air.
Hope they have a great trip.

I can't believe that I got a reply to my email already. They are happy to accomodate them in the main block and will also try to five them a room with airconditioning. In addition they are providing a bottle of sparkling wine!
