Cloc Medicis or Latour Maubourg

Can anyone advise as to which hotel I should chose? My husband and I are going to Paris in May. Both places have availability. I'd like to book one shortly. Any other hotel suggestions would be helpful too.

Much appreciated.

I stayed at the Clos Medicis for 10 days about a year ago, and loved it. The staff and location are terrific. I took the RER from CDG to Luxembourg stop, and it's an easy walk to hotel. You can also walk to many other sites, Notre Dame, Louvre, etc. I had a superior double, which was fine, altho I understand the standard doubles are rather small. Also, you may need A/C in May, I turned it on in October!

As for the Latour Maubourg, I also contemplated staying there at one time.
I was annoyed by the long confirmation fax that stated their "policies". For instance, no food in room, if you cancel while you are there you have to pay for the whole visit, etc. I also heard that if you sleep too late, they will wake you up so the maid can clean the room before she leaves at noon! Anyway, the Clos Medicis gets my emphatic vote!

In May 2001, my husband and I stayed at LaTour Maubourg because of this web site. Maria and Victor are very kind. For two weeks, every morning we enjoyed fresh croissants (from a local bakery),fresh orange juice, and coffee while reviewing our itinerary with Maria. We ate at Victor's restaurant for dinner twice - excellent. The Metro is across the street. Invaldes is a block away, the Eiffel is down the street, Champs is over the bridge, Rodin and D'Orsay are also down the street (opposite direction from the Eiffel Tower. We would walked to all of these places. It is very safe at night. Check-out the web site (I always like to do that so you know what to expect.) We would stay there again.

I stayed at Clos Medicis in December 2001. Loved it. Had a superior single for about E130 and it was small but very nice with a good sized bathroom. Staff were wonderful. The breakfast was great and kept me full till late in the afternoon. Would recommend it highly.

We tried to stay at Latour Maubourg a few years ago. We received a confirmation for a certain price and for a certain room and then a few months later we received an email that that room (the only one with AC) was no longer available! They asked if we wanted another room for the same price. However, there "same price" was higher, and for a room with no AC. We declined and received confirmation back. Several months later we received an email asking us whether we were staying there as they had not heard back from us!!

I don't know if they act like they speak English better than they understand or if they are utterly disorganized. The hotel looked nice on their website, but I would never try to stay there again. (Thought you should know.)
