Click & Rail?
 

I've seen Click & Rail mentioned as a cheap way to travel - but could not find routes or fares on their website. What am I missing??

There's also Surf & Rail in Germany, which is also very cheap. It goes int'l to all bordering countries.

Note, the fares do sell out, so it is best to book asap. Sometimes, you have to book w/in a certain period before your departure, so read the fine print. I used the Swiss one to go from Zurich to Venice and it only cost i think about 60 CHF. It's very simple. Just buy online, or even better, if in the country, go directly to the ticket agent to purchase the fares.

Clickrail can only be booked up to three days before your journey. Not all destinations are available and you the offer is only good for the specific times chosen.

You need to book online, pay by credit card and use the printout as your ticket. You cannot book click&rail at train stations.

Destinations that are often seen on click&rail are:
- Zürich Hauptbahnhof (main train station)
- Basel
- Bern
- Locarno/Lugano (and destinations along the Wilhelm Tell Express)
- Brunnen/Schwyz
- sometimes Luzern

Someone mentioned click&rail is more beneficial to locals than tourists. Because you need a computer with printer and its only bookable up to three days before your journey, this indeed may be true. However, it is still worth your while to take a look at the offers before arriving in Switzerland. You just might save some Francs!

Thanks for the help!. My problem is finding where exactly the discount fares are listed on that website - I looked in Ticket Shop and saw nothing, perhpas this is the wrong place. I'll be in Switzerland next week, so am just doing a little research.
