Clear The Nasties

Dear Fodors

Dear Fodors
Please clear out The Nasties.
Reclaim your Forum as a Travel Site.

From all available evidence, Fodors does not come here and does not police anything here.

The forum will get what it deserves, Fodors can't help.
If enough react to the trolls it will be a mess.(see lonely planet)
If posters are mature enough not to reply to the bored schoolkids they'll go away.(attention span of a gnat)
Does this always happen when school is out?
Shouldn't really be replying to this, except to point out that the existance of this thread encourages them.

I still haven't seen any really "nasty", or outrageously, stupid postings. I have found (most) of the info here to be informative or, at the very least, interesting. There are what, a gazillion (that's a Starfleet term) people who have access to a computer, so it shouldn't be surprising that's there are a few nuts, or immature, people out there. Let's just roll with it and not get overly alarmed. Do you think ANYONE at Fodors even LOOKS at the Forum?

On at least one occaision Fodor's have responded to posts, when there were many complaints about access to the forum being particularly scrappy.
ONE of the things I particularly like about this forum is that Fodor's provide it for us at their expense without feeling the need to step in every other thread recommending their guide books etc.

Fodor's also stepped in on a post where someone asked for a job. Just ignore nastiness and never respond to it. You can't win if you do.

Dear Kelly:

Please define "nasty." Is it whatever you disagree with? Opinions you don't share? Someone else's humor you don't find funny? Personally, my definition of "nasty" is people who smoke and talk about it here, descriptions of diaper changes in airplanes or anywhere else, and discussions about eating meat.

Not the same as your definition? Just goes to show that it's all subjective. Are you going to be the one who decides what is and isn't "nasty" and censor the board for rest of us? I can make my decisions about what to read, not read, respond to or ignore, thanks just the same.
