Classical Concerts in Paris

Can anyone direct me to a web site that lists classical concerts in Paris? I'll be there in early November.
Thanks

One of the easiest things to do is pick up Pariscope (cost about 40 Euro cents) from a kiosk vendor when you are there. That will list almost all classical concerts. I didn't find any web site that was as comprehensive as Pariscope.

That's true, you can just check when you get there -- not just Pariscope, but any of the local weekly entertainment guides (Pariscope, l'Officiel des Spectacles, etc.) Other than those, the most comprehensive source I've found is the online Paris Tourist Office site www.paris-touristoffice.com

You shouldn't need to reserve ahead of time for anything but major concerts and venues. Of course, it can be good for planning, I try to do a little of that myself.

For our recent trip to Paris we used two sites: www.archetspf.assoc.fr/concert.htm
This is the sight of a string group that plays classical concerts in a number of venues in Paris including Ste. Chapelle.
www.ampconcerts.com
This is the site of concerts held in various churches in Paris including St. Germain, Madelaine, and Ste. Chapelle.

Just be advised that the Pariscope--the non-web version that you buy in Paris at the bookstalls--no longer carries an English section like it used to, so it will take longer to go through it. It's a great guide nonetheless. We found attended a concert at the Czech Center in the Left Bank that we found in the pages of Pariscope.

I guess it depends on what you're looking for. I've yet to attend a concert given by big names, but these are some of the venues I'd check if I'm interested in these sorts of concerts.

I've created an entry in the Paris Superthread --

http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessa...p;tid=34519236

Could more people chime in here so that we'll have a more comprehensive listing?

Thanks.

the superthread already has this pretty comprehensive link to websites for concerts, it was posted in August 2004

Ah, but that thread itself hasn't been updated since the end of 2002.

Was there a separate entry earlier in the Superthread? I should check again.

I don't think there is any real need to be updating that thread listing the major concert venue URLs, etc, they don't hardly ever change. The main thing that could happen would be one disappearing (most likely the organizations, not major venues), but if so, one would find out when clicking on it.

Great, thanks!

Now we've all this stuff all in one place again.

RichardSpitzer Oct 19th, 2004 11:11 AM

We found most of the concerts we attended from posters stuck up on walls all over the place. We went to Vivaldi's four seasons at Ste. Chapelle from a poster that we saw near the Pont Neuf. There is also a digitalized reader board on the Blvd. St.Germain as well as in other parts of the city announcing the events for that evening and for those a week away. It just does not seem very difficult to find excellent music in Paris for a reasonable price.
