Clarion Comfort Hotels in Norway
 

Planning a trip to Norway in the fall and have found three Clarion Comfort hotels that we're considering. Has anyone stayed at these? Also, what are your thoughts on the evening meal at the Clarion Comforts? Is it just bread and soup or a bit more?

Bergen: Hotel Havnekontoret

Tronfheim: Hotel Bakeriet

Oslo: Hotel Folketeateret

The Gabelshus in Oslo is a Clarion now...an outstanding ivy-covered property with a gigantic buffet table for breakfast. In the very quiet Embassy district, tram at the corner or easy walk to Aker Brygge, ferry to Bgdoy, etc. We enjoyed Radisson hotels in Trondheim and Tromso, at senior prices.
Hotel Park Pension in Bergen was a notch below the aformentioned, but comfortable and again, in a residential part of town. Look any of these up on the web.(Do not know the three mentioned in your post.

The Gabelhus did look nice, but wondered if it was too far from the main attractions. One person has some walking problems.

Do the Radissons include any meals? Seems as though that may be a real savings and just easier than going out to search for a restaurant after a full day of sight-seeing.

Rates do not include anything other than bkfst...but excellent inside restos are available at exceptionally reasonable prices for Norway. The one in Trondheim is quite nice, same for Tromso.

As I said, there is a frequent tram from the corner of the Gableshus street to most anywhere downtown. You can keep walking down to a minimum.

Clousie..here are some Norway pics which include Oslo, Bergen, Noray in a Nutshell train, Trondheim. Alesund, Bodo a, the Lofotens and Tromso. (We boarded the Hurtigruten for 2 nights to Trondheim, and reboared the next day for one night to Bodo.

We thought it worked well for our needs. We stayed twice, a night coming and going to Voss. It did not have the evening meal. We stayed at one in Goteburg that did serve evening meal and breakfast and both were sufficient and met our needs for meals.
