Claridges rooms?

Is it possible to get a *really* bad room at Claridges? I ask this because we've found a great promotional rate at Claridges (still pricey, but better than I'd ever expect), and I'd love to stay there for once in my life, but I don't want to wind up in a teensy hole behind the maintenance closet. The rate is for a "superior room queen bed," but *doesn't* mention an ensuite bathroom...other, higher rates listed later on do mention ensuite bathroom. Now, I can't imagine a property like Claridges having rooms without ensuite bathrooms, but I just thought it would be worthwhile to check. Feedback, please? Thanks!<BR><BR>(There's also an even better rate at the Connaught, but I have this jones for Claridges...)

Claridges only has ensuite rooms. Either the Connaught or Claridges would be a wonderful treat!

Darling, this is Claridges, it is an institution. Thinking that Claridges doesn't have ensuite bathrooms is like thinking the Peninsula in HK has outhouses. Gordon Ramsay is situated in Claridges and for that alone I would sleep in the hallway on a futon.<BR><BR>I have stayed at Claridges in the past. It is not a hotel. It is a way of life.

Thanks folks! That's what I assumed, but making assumptions about travel has proven risky in the past, so I decided better to ask questions now than have my heart broken later. Claridges, here we come!

Hi, Gina,<BR><BR>Oh, please, don't just tantalize us and leave! What is the rate? When is it good for? How do we get it???<BR><BR>Thanks!

A description from www.claridges.co.uk of a Superior Room Queens Bed:<BR><BR>"A double occupancy room with a large bedroom with an entrance hall and also a large en suite marble bathroom. Spacious wardrobes are a feature of these rooms as are Queen size beds. Available in art deco or traditional style d&eacute;cor. These rooms are inner court facing. (Approximately 30 square metres)."<BR><BR>So can I kip on the floor of your private entrance hall?

Please, please tell us how you found great rate at Claridges.! And what is this great rate!?

I've found a great rate at Claridge's via orbitz.com, but it's mostly during the winter months. Still, it would be worth a little cold and damp if you had Claridge's to look forward to!!

Why do you idolize so many people, John? I mean, it seems to go far beyond normal levels of respect, admiration, marvel, whatever you want to call it. Just curious, that's all -- would doubt that I'm the only one to wonder. I suspect it's just your flamboyant patois operating on cruise control. Right?

John G Aug 15th, 2002 06:58 PM

Laura, you must be off of your meds again, sweetie, because Claridges is a building, not a person. The thing is, darling, why do you care? Lonely life without a man? :)

TooMuchJohnG Aug 15th, 2002 08:01 PM

Ooooooo John is showing his bitchy side tonight!<BR>Laura, it isn't really "idolizing",not even really "flamboyant" just the usual drama Queen gushing.<BR>

ignore John Ginthner. That Atlanta air must be stifling tonight. Laura of course was referring to his idolizing of Gordon Ramsay.

Boy, are you ever dumb, Kathy Daly. Gordon Ramsay is a restaurant. Have you ever been off of Long Island? I think not.

John Ginthner? our lovely John G?
