Citytourcard in Berlin?

I would like to visit the Pergamon Museum, Altes Museum, Haus am Checkpoint Charlie, and use public transportation to get to Tegel Airport. Would this card (the Museumsinsel version) be worth it?
Thanks for your response. ellen

Well, I know it costs 10 euros to get into the Pergamon Museum, and it costs 2.2 euros to take the TXL bus into Berlin from Tegel. I would add up the cost of all your museum trips and the 4.4 euros it will take to get to and from Tegel and see it comes out cheaper to get the card.

If you are travelling to Berlin, no matter what you do you are a FOOL if you don't go up to see the dome of the Reichstag Building. It is free.

CTC Museumsinsel costs €30.

Day pass for the museums on the Museumsinsel is €12 (includes Pergamon as well as Altes Museum)

Haus am Checkpoint Charlie is €12.50 (€10 with CTC)

Single ride public transportion is €2.10 (day pass is €6.10)

So the total costs (assuming that you will only need 2 single rides on the bus) would be €40 with CTC, and €28.70 without.

IMO, Haus am Checkpoint Charlie is not one of the best museums in town. It squeezes all of the paraphernalia around the Wall and the attempts to escape from the GDR into a rather small space.

In the southwestern part of the (formerly) American sector you will find the Allied Museum - which is for free, and gives a much broader perspective, both on life of the Berliners as well as on the history of the Allies in town.

The website looks a bit shabby, but the museum is not.

Another option for GDR history could be the DDR Museum.

Have not been there yet, so I cannot say if it's good.

For fun things to plan in Berlin, here is the calendar of events and activities to celebrate the "Fall of the Wall"

We will be in Berlin for a week and staying by the Tiergarten. I am told that trasit is easy and fast, but know little esle.Do they sell a weekly pass for their transit? and will it take us to Tegel. We plan to see a lot on what was the east and west berlin sides. Any suggesstions would be appreciate.

You can get a 7-day-pass for 26 Euros for public transportation at the BVG (the Berlin transit authority) booth at the airport. That desk is close to the exits.

You can use any bus, tram, subway, s-bahn, regional trains, and ferries within the city limits (it's called "Berlin AB" on the pass) with that pass.

The only popular tourist sight that will not be covered by that pass would be Potsdam palaces and gardens. If you plan to go there, the most reasonable option would be to get an extension ticket for zone C just for that trip. That will cost only 1.40 pP and per trip.
