Citylink bus-ferry Ireland to Scotland

Hi there,

Has anyone ever taken the bus-ferry combination between Belfast and Edinburgh with CityLink? I'm not fussed about length of time or being in a bus, but just want to know if they are reliable. Appreciate if others can share their experiences

I took the Stena Line ferry from Belfast to Stranraer Scotland, then a train to Glasgow and on to Edinbourgh. I seem to recall hearing that the train from Stranraer to Glasgow no longer runs. The high speed ferry was nice. I do not know what CityLink is.

The train now runs from Stranraer (not the ferry terminal at Cairnryan)) to Ayr where you change for another train to Glasgow Central. You'll then have to change stations to Glasgow Queen Street to get one of the frequent trains to Edinburgh.
The alternative is book the coach service via the Stenaline web site.

The reliability will be be based on the weather affecting the ferry crossing.
