Cinque Terre...then where?

We've been to Italy (Rome, Florence, Venice, Tuscany, Cuomo region, Positano, Milan, Pisa, Lucca) a number of times and will be spending 4 nights in Cinque Terre this July. The question is "where do we go from there??" Cinque Terre, aside from the hikes, should be the mellow part of the vacation. We love medieval towns, castles, vinyards etc and running around during the day, and dining at night. We have about 6-7 more days. Where would you suggest we go? Thanks

Where do you need to end up to fly home?

It doesn't really matter. We live in NY so flights are plentiful.

It doesn't appear you have spent any time in the Region of Piedmont so I would suggest that you reseach that area to see if it would be of interest to you. Beautiful scenery, fantastic food, wonderful wine etc. You could spend an overnight or so in Turin. Research the castles in Valle D'Aosta also. And visiting Lake Orta is lovely. You didn't say if you will rent a car or not, for this portion of Italy you will want a car. Have fun planning your trip and let us know what you have planned.

I was also thinking Piemonte. Look at the area around Asti and Alba.

Yes we have spent time in Sienna. Thanks for the recommendation. We have not been to the Piedmont region. How long you you recommend staying in this area? In the meantime I'll do a little research and thanks for the tip.
