I am wondering on recommended lodging and restaurants in the Cinque Terre area. In advance, thank you for any suggestions...I have received so much helpful info from this site! My sister, and niece will be going there and between the villages which one is recommended for staying the night;and restaurants as well.
thanks

We enjoyed the food at Ristorante Miky www.ristorantemiky.it in Monterosso. The seafood and pesto were excellent. Easy to get a train to and from even in the evening. Paul

I'm going to the Cinque Terre in May and we're staying in Manarolla at Ostelle 5 terre
http://www.cinqueterre.net/ostello/home_en.html
The place looks beautiful and it wasn't badly priced. It's a hostel, but the site did say they accept families and have private rooms for that. If you're looking to save money (which I am!) look at this site. If you do decide to stay there, you have to send them an e-mail stating when you'll be arriving and what your payment will be and they'll e-mail you back.
Hope this helps!

this was from honeybrown's trip report last sept.:
"Dinner that night was at Al Carugio in Monterosso, which had the best calamari I've ever had and an absolutely amazing caprese salad. 3 course meal with wine for one person, 37 Euro." we took her advice in october and i would have to agree regarding the calamari...it is simply incredible......i will never forget that first mouthful.......
