Cinque Terre to La Spezia Train Schedule

Hello all!!!

Does anyone know about the train schedule between La Spezia and the other CT smaller towns? we need to catch an early morning 0630, train out of La Spezia, but want to stay in one of the smaller towns... do you think that the regional/local trains run that early? any advice would be much appreciated! first time to CT!!! can't wait, just need to figure out where to stay based on train schedule...if the regional train doesnt run that early to get us to La Spezia from one of the smaller towns, we will have to stay in La Spezia after all...

Thank you in advance for your advice
Diana

you can check schedules at www.trenitalia.com

trains run starting around 4:30 or 5am.

why do you need to catch a 6:30 train out of La Spezia?

How is the situation there now, after all the horrible flooding?

I am leaving La Spezia and heading to Villefrance that morning at 0630, thats why I need an early morning train out of CT. I have been searcing and it looks like things are a little better in the worst hit areas and they are really working to recuperate from the flooding. Very sad situation.
Thank you for sharing the website!

As much as you may wish to stay in one of the smaller villages, you may find it more practical to stay in Monterosso or even Levanto, just because their train stations get more high speed (long distance) trains stopping there. In September, I stayed in Levanto in part because I had to catch an early train to Milan, and I could get a direct train at 7am from Levanto. If I'd stayed in one of the other villages, I'd have had to get up 2 hours earlier to make sure I got an early connection regional train. Didn't seem worth the hassle. (I didn't want to stay in Monterosso.)

Levanto is a nice town, too, and it's part of the Cinque Terre park (covered in the train and hiking pass), even though Levanto is more of a conventional "beach town" and not so much like the Five Vilages that seem carved into the sides of the hills. It's easy to get into the villages by train from Levanto - plus, if you REALLY want a long hike, you might be able to hike from Levanto to Monterosso. Perhaps THAT trail is open? You could check into that...

Why not just take a later train from La Spezia? I see a 7:46 departure.

Also many times the R trains that run thru the small towns are not on schedule so if you must leave at 6;30am from LaSpezia either stay there or give yourself some extra times for the CT trains.

Levanto seems a good choice (only passed through it). This said, I did like La Spezia as it seemed full of history and gives the impression of having been very grand in previous years, but not as romantic as other parts of the Cinque Terre.
