Cinque Terre; Looking for Hostels in all five towns and where to fly into.

We are planning to be in the Cinque Terre area in mid September, 2013. This is our first trip to Europe. We are accustomed to staying in hostels. We prefer to contact the hostels personally via the internet or when we arrive instead of using the hostel booker type sites on the internet that charge fees.
Can anyone advise on any hostels in any of the towns of Cinque Terre and any other information that would make our trip easier? Price range?
Is flying into Nice, France a good idea or is it advisable to fly into another area? At this time we are planning to hike Cinque Terre at the beginning of our trip.
Thanks,
TREP

Not much hostels in the CT area although there is a convent/monastery or two. It would be better if you stated your price range instead of people posting places that might not be close to your price.

Closest airports (2 hrs away):
Genova, Pisa
Second best solutions (4 hrs away):
Florence, Parma, Milano Linate, Torino

You could google hostels in cinque terre. I came up with this in 10 seconds.

Why would you need a hostel in each town?

You could also consult the Let's Go guide book for Italy for more hostel information. They rate the hostels.

I also was able to find the link you sent before I posted. I just did not expect a hostel to be $100+/night and thought there might be others that were less for doubles. I expected those prices to be for the hotels. I guess Central America, over the years, has spoiled me. Thanks for the info.

That's what hostels cost in the pricey and popular parts of Europe.

I still don't see why you need to spend 5 nights in Cinque Terre and stay in each town. I think you'll be bored unless you plan trips from there.

There are cheaper places in Europe such as Portugal, Czech Republic, Poland and parts east.

Monterosso convent:

You might try some B&B's. You can send a request to all the B&B's in the towns for an offer. You will have to check locations since the area is so hilly. Some might be more of a trek than you want.
