Cinque Terre Hikes

I will be traveling to CT with two pre-teens in the beginning of September. We will be staying in Monterosso and will get there late afternoon/early evening. We will be there for two full days and a half day.

Can someone break down which direction is the best way to start off the hike? The difficult ones to hike? The easiest? The best time to catch nice lighting? Best town to view by ferry (thinking about doing this on our first evening)?

Also, if you can throw out some food recs too.

Cheers!

We stayed in Montererosso, which in my opinion is the best town as a base. The town is divided by a mountain It has the sea section of the town and a second section on the other side of the mountain (you walk through or around the mountain. There are also trials which lead to small wineries. We took the train to the farthest of the five towns and hiked partially back along the sea trail (great views of the shore and sea from above. One of the trails was closed so we took the train to the next town. There are also trails that lead inward, which we were not interested in (better views from the sea trails. Two and 1/2 days should be enough. We ate all are dinners in Monterroso. We found an outdoor restaurant near the beach that had the best views of the surrounding mountains. Great food and view. All of our lunches were in the other 4 towns. No point to be walking or taking trains at night to and from the other towns.

In case you are not aware, there are sections still closed for hiking. http://www.parconazionale5terre.it/sentieri-outdoor.php

It's 7 miles all told hiking the shortest main trails between the 5 Lands - I did it in one day but with pre-teens yes break it up. And trails may always be closed as noted above.
