Cinque Terre - Accomodations in Vernazza or Riomaggiore
My husband and I will be traveling to Cinque Terre the first week of June. Can anyone recommend hotels/accomodations in the towns of Vernazza or Riomaggiore? We have a room reserved in Monterosso, but would prefer to stay in one of the other smaller towns. Have not had much luck searching on the internet. The only "must-have" for the room is that is has a private shower/bathroom. Thanks!

Last May my friends and I rented rooms from Francamaria in Vernazza (at www.francamaria.com). The rooms were simple but clean, in a perfect location right by the harbor, with a great bathroom and shower. I highly recommend staying in Vernazza -- it's lovely after the tourists vacate in the evening and in the early morning before they return!

Vernazza doesn't really have any hotels. However, there are an abundance of people renting rooms in their house or apartment flats. You should have no problem finding a room on the fly.

Finest double room in Vernazza with a balcony can be rented at www.elisabettacarro.it. Be sure to get the upper room with the large balcony shown on the web site.

First of all, Neetse, you get a gold star for spelling all the towns correctly-(including Cinque Terre)-that's got to count for something!
And I do understand why you would want to be in Vernazza, on account of those magical views. So how about the Trattoria Gianni Franzi? Yes, it is a trattoria that serves great local cuisine, but it also rents out really nice guest rooms. A double with private bath costs about $90. website: www.giannifranzi.it address: Piazza Marconi 1, Vernazza 011-39-0187-823-003. As for Monterosso, -friends have recommended "Il Maestrale (Via Roma 37) which is a romantic, inn with but 6 rooms, an open air breakfast terrace AND lovely ceiling murals. A double runs about US100 in low season, more in summer. website: www.locandailmaestrale.it/site/indexe.html As far as restaurants in Monterosso, there are two that are noteworthy: Il Pirata-serves great seafood and pasta, and Ristorante Ciak La Lampara-the latter located on Piazza Don Minzoni. Do try the local wine as well-Sciachetra-CT's sweet white raisin wine-wonderful, as only local Italian wines can be! |
Thanks, Spygirl! I appreciate the recommendations.
