Cinque Terre
We are staying in Camogli and are planning to do CT. We will have a car. Suggestions for best way to do a 1 day, may be a second day. From what I read, you buy pass which allows for wi-fi and bathrooms (very important)!!
thanks |
Best to leave car in Camogli and take trains or ferries to and between the CT where cars are useless and parking problematic. Trains cost very little and run all the time. For dope on trains in Italy and CT check www.trenitalia.com; www.seat61.com and BETS-European Rail Experts. Those are regional trains that are dirt cheap flat fare and can't even get seat reservations - just buy ticket at stations - a ferry one way would be nice if running,
https://cinqueterre-travel.com/infor...ue_terre_card/ this is card needed to access hiking trails and yes offers free use of public bathrooms and free WI-FI in CT train stations. Are you into walking as it seems - then I'd start in Monterosso and trek to Vernazza, to me the finest of the CT towns - any get an online map of CT hiking trails and elevations, etc. And if the ones uyou want to open or closed - trails can be closed for a variety of reasons - mud slides especially. |
Last fall, we bought a 2-day pass; did CT in one day, hiking and train. And, used the ticket the second day for part of our ride to other areas. If interested, you can check out our trip report here: https://www.fodors.com/community/eur...t-oct-1659667/ Day 3 we visited Camogli; Day Four was all CT; and day 5 we used second day of our pass to go elsewhere.
