Cinque Terra or Amalfi and Why?

If you could only go to one of these areas, which would you choose and why?

Whichever fit into my overall itinerary. If that is equal, then the AC.

bobthenvaigator-our trip has morphed to include Sicily so now I'm trying to figure out which area would be best to visit. I watched some Rick Steve's videos on Cinque Terra in my Italian class and it looks so charming. It seems more laid back perhaps than the AC. With three weeks time and Venice, Rome, Sicily, and Perugia (Citta di Castello), I need to decide on one or the other. I don't want to run around too much but want to see as much as possible without running ragged.

It really depends on your interests. We loved both but preferred the AC. We felt there was more to see/do, better shopping and more food options. Of course if you are avid hikers, you might prefer CT. You can't go wrong with either place though, both have lots to see and do and the scenery is great in both places.

Hi G,

<With three weeks time and Venice, Rome, Sicily, and Perugia (Citta di Castello), ... I don't want to run around too much ..<

You already are.

You won't go wrong whether you choose the AC or the CT.

Pick the one that is easiest to get to/from for the rest of your itinerary.

Ninkette - My heart tells me AC because of all the things you listed, plus so many places to access from there.

Can you take a ferry down to Sicily from Naples?

Ira - I know! I want to see it all though. Would you cut out the Perugia part of the trip and head straight to AC then Sicily? That allows more time in each place. I'm thinking into Venice and out of Rome so Venice, AC, Sicily, Rome?

That'd be the idea - stay put for awhile!

> I'm thinking into Venice and out of Rome so Venice, AC, Sicily, Rome? <

That's the most logical sequence - go for it!

OR

Fly Venice to Sicily, then up to AC and Rome.

Agree with Ninkette and for the same reasons... AC.

Tuck - thank you so much for your input. I do want to take the time to enjoy the poeople and culture, and practice my Italian! I will investigate costs on both ways to fly per your suggestions-Thanks!

Nolenomad - yes we are not avid hikers (although it wouldn't hurt us four to to it ) so AC seems more in line with our agenda.
