Cinque Terra Hotels
 

I still haven't made a hotel decision for the Cinque Terra. The Villa Steno had a room but no view. I think I tried one other who was booked. Any more ideas?

There really aren't that many hotels in the Cinque Terre villages, there are more 'rooms to rent' type places. We stayed at Casa Capellini which had a fabulous view but was pretty basic, you could try the 2 B&Bs, also in Manarola, which should have similar views. for lots of accommodation ideas. If you want something more upmarket, you could stay in Santa Margherita which is a lovely resort town, an hour north by train. Lots more choices there.

Take the Villa Steno even without the the view, its fabulous.

You have me intrigued. Is there a nice view from their public rooms? Why do you like the Villa Steno so much? Is it easy to get to? And I forgot, what town is it in?

Beats me why anyone would rate the Hotel Villa Steno in Monterosso as fabulous. It is a long walk up a steep hill to get there, the view if your room has one is a distant view of the sea, the breakfast is meager to say the least and the rooms are spartan. I found it to be a very average poorly located hotel. Just my opinion your mileage may vary.

Check out the Porto Rocco in Monterosso. Rooms on the top floor have big terraces with spectacular views.

I think we may just take our chances and look for a room in Vernazza when we get there. It doesn't seems like Oct. is as busy as it is in summer. I guess if we get a nice view, great and if not we really will just need a place to stay. Is it OK to just find something when you get there in mid. Oct.? We don't need a hotel necessarily. A B & B would be nice. That web site was helpful but not a lot of email addresses and we're leaving next Sat. so not a lot of time to arrange things. I've really planned out this trip. Maybe this is one place to wing it.

We just got back from Manarola. Stayed a Da Baranin in one of their rooms separate from their main building. Room was OK with a great view. Like virtually everything else in Manarola it was a very long climb from the train station!
An interesting looking place slightly closer to the station and harbor was Hotel Andrean. Can't really recommend it since I've never stayed there, but it looked nice and wasn't so much of a climb. No matter where you stay it will be wonderful!!

We stayed at the Andrean in June. We had a large room with a large terrace overlooking vineyards (actually, looking up at them.) There is no sea view because it is in a curve in the road. They have a lovely garden with flowers and fruit trees where you have breakfast. The owners are quite nice. It is not luxurious but was just what we wanted. It was wonderful to sit on the terrace at the end of the day enjoying wine and cheese and watching people wheeling their siutcases up the hill. CJ
