Hey I didn't know you were blogging on Fodors the whole time you were here! That's what I get for not logging in for a few days! Glad you found Cascina Rosengana and Conbipel without too much trouble, too bad you missed the Abbazia Vezzolana - you would have run into our next guests there en-route from Torino. How about Eataly, no mention or were you too stuffed by Cascina Rosengana! Loved having you guys stay here.

We were looking forward to it, but were somewhat surprised by the sheer number of courses we had – eight in all, plus coffee at the end.>>
lol Scott, did you actually order all that food, or did some of it just arrive, unbidden on the table? and what did it cost? sounds great anyway. Sorry you had to tear yourselves away. have a good trip home. |

Scott- lovely trip report!
I am wondering, when you stated that you had to "walk into town" in Manarola from the Arpaiu, how far would that be? Five minutes? 15? Thanks! |
5 min

Ok, I'm only up to day 5, but this is fun. We'll be there early October, still trying to find an 'apartment' sort of place for four people.
This is very helpful, thanks for taking the time. :-) |
Thanks everyone, we are back in rainy London heading to work this morning...sigh!
To answer some questions: Annhig - we didnt see a menu, they just kept on coming!!! We had to cut them off so we could make it to the airport hahaha!! Sarge56 - yes about 5 mins, it is in town, just a short walk from all the shops and restaurants Tim (Sampaguita) - we had no time for anything else after the delicious lunch...just made it to the airport on time hahaha - Thanks for everything, we loved our stay! Will post my pics shortly... |
I've added my camera pics (they turned out a better than the iphone pics) from the Cinque Terre, Piedmonte to come tonight!

Great Scott (aka biker or jamikins),
I love to see verbose (to match my garrulity) trip reports especially when we are featured! But I take umbrage at your casual mention of Rina's home-made semifreddo. After living here in Piemonte for 10 years I can truthly say and without prejudice (well maybe a little) that Rina's semifreddo is a desert of inspiration unparalleled in any other restaurant in Piedmont. Actually this is a new creation this year and previously I was able to be quite blasé about most of this genre, but when it comes to her version I cannot resist and it has to be locked away from me after dinner! |
And pics of Piemonte: http://picasaweb.google.com/jamie.a....eat=directlink

Thanks for the entertaining report.

What a great read, thanks so much. I've actually just put in a request for 'your' room, in CT and their studio room for October. Were they good making contact? I may ring if theres no response when I wake in the morning.
We are also going to Asti......staying in a fantastic apartment/vila for 10 in a small village called Refrancore. This is one report that will be coming with me, you sound like our kind of traveler, I'm sure thats nothing to do with the wine consumption ;-) (ps, our eldest daughter has just moved to London for two years, we will also see her as part of our 3.5month trip.) Thanks again and the photos are great. AD |
Hi Aussiedreamer, thanks for your kind comments :)
They were pretty quick with responses, dont think I ever waited more than a day so you should have a response within 24 hours. They also sent us a tonne of information, helpful! You will have an amazing time...sniff sniff...cant believe I am back at work already!! |
Thanks for a great report and interesting photos! sorry you have to be back at work.

We will be visiting Cinque Terra in November. I have been cautioned that hotels and restaurants may be closed down at this time of year. Does anyone have information regarding this?
|
OOps. That would be Terre not Terra.
