Cingular cells in Italy

My daughter is studying in Italy and I will be joining her for 10 days. We both have Cingular. I called Cingular and they said for 1.29 per min. we can talk to each other in Italy as we have international service Is there a cheaper method? Any advice?

If you are staying with Cingular, I know that they have a $5.99 per month plan (AT&T World Traveler) and this will reduce your per minute rate to .99.

You can have the plan activated immediately before you leave on your trip and have it terminated after you return. It really just depends on how much you will be using your phone.

Also, just to be clear, I believe the total rate is actually $1.29/min X 2 as you pay for both calling and receiving. I.e., you pay $1.29/min to call your daughter, and she pays $1.29/min to receive your call.

I seem to remember someone mentioning that fact that if both of you have Cingular (internat), you can keep in touch via text message. If I recall correctly, there is a great difference in price, may be .10 per message?

I can't find the thread, but it might be worth inquiring.

Just for curiosity, do you and your daughter both have Cingular phones that operate on the European frequencies? If you don't, it won't make any difference what calling plan you have.

Let me understand your question. You're joining your daughter for 10 days in Italy, and you want to make calls to her while you are in Italy. Will there really be that many calls if you're with her? And I assume the calls will be short ones.

I've found Cingular to be very helpful about info on different calling plans. Why don't you ask them what would be cheapest.
