Cigars from Paris to US?
A friend has asked me to pick up some cigars for him in paris. I asked if they had Cubans and he said they did, but also others. What would happen if I got caught smuggling Cubans into US? Are there other good cigars I could get that you can't in US that wouldn't get me in trouble? And what's a good place to buy them?

As a rule of thumb it really isint a big deal. If found they just confiscate them and I am sure throw them out. I smoke cigars and bring one or two back ocasionally. One year going through Detroit, they searched every bag we had and the customs guy picked up my cubans and then put them back in my bag. I dont think that they were looking for cigars. There are several shops on St. Germaine. Other than the Cubans, they have the same selection that any other good cigar store has. There are so many good Honduran and Dominican cigars I don't spend the money too often.

andib: I agree with jay regarding the quality of Dominican cigars. I would not take the chance of spending good $ for cubans and then have them taken. I have heard of cigar stores in the UK that will remove the bands and put the cigars in a non-cuban box for you to take home. They then mail the bands and the box to your home address. Good luck and good smoking.

DH has brought cigars back from Paris and Amsterdam. They are expensive. He orders cigars from Holt--Fuentes are his favorite and he actually prefers those over Cuban cigars and they are a bit cheaper in cost. I think these cigars are from Dominican Rep. But he has never had any problem with cigars being found in luggage. The Beagles are looking for other things.
